Are you committed to doing therapy? Therapy is like any other health routine. When you decide to do a fitness program, there's a level of commitment that must be there for you to stick with it. It's the same with therapy. We can feel ready but not actually be ready. We can feel ready to make changes but not be ready to do the tough work that is required to heal.
Therapy is tough at times. It can bring up painful memories, and challenge your view of yourself when unexpected blind spots are brought to your attention. You may feel ready to start therapy but are you committed to doing the hardwork to heal? Are you willing to stick with it when you'd rather not deal with your self-sabotaging behaviors? Are you willing to take responsibility for your behaviors and not blame others for your choices? Are you willing to show-up consistently? Are you willing to let go of who you thought you were and become a healthier version of yourself? Therapy requires a commitment to the healing process. It’s not an easy or quick process but in the end, you’ll realize that the process was worth it.
